Number of People Living in Extreme Poverty, Worldwide?
The World Bank estimates that roughly 700 million people, worldwide live in extreme poverty. That is, living on less than $1.90 a day as of 2018. With the recent surge in inflation, this figure might be higher.
Amount of Food Wasted Each Year?
Approximately 2.9 trillion (2,900,000,000,000) pounds of food are wasted annually worldwide. This represents about one-third of all food produced for human consumption.
The Global Average Food Consumption Per Person Annually?
According to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the global average food consumption per person is approximately 1,000 to 1,200 pounds per person per year. In the U.S., the average food consumption per person is about 1,600 pounds annually. For the EU, it is approximately 1,200 to 1,500 pounds per person annually and in India between 600 to 800 pounds per person per year.
